GIM Investment Styles

GIM offers two distinctly different investment styles with multiple allocation options within each. Both styles employ disciplined asset allocation strategies that intend to reduce risk to portfolios through diversification, and provide potential for long-term growth.

Both styles of management periodically reposition the assets of portfolios to correspond with changing market and economic conditions. Each allocation has its own defined parameters that dictate maximum and minimum amounts in each asset class.

"I'm not nearly so concerned about the return on my capital, as I am the return of my capital." Will Rogers

Guardian allocations utilize the active/defensive style GIM has become known for. This diversified style attempts to minimize portfolio loss during difficult or “bear” markets and seeks to provide risk adjusted returns that meet or exceed the returns of similarly allocated passive managers. Guardian allocations range from the very conservative Fixed Income to the more aggressive Sector and Country allocations. Guardian allocations are designed for investors who place more emphasis on their desire for principal preservation.

The Opportunity allocation style is designed for clients wanting to participate in capital appreciation opportunities available in the financial markets through a diversified portfolio. Opportunity allocations utilize an active/diversified style that seeks to provide risk adjusted returns that meet or exceed similarly allocated passive managers. Within this style, GIM monitors the market and positions the portfolio to best take advantage of opportunities that exist within the risk parameters of the specific allocation selected.
